OCCUPANT EXPERIENCE
The Bow is designed for success
In signature Foster style, The Bow's form follows function. It is a building designed above all for people and delivers what they need to be successful in their work.
The Bow's office space was custom designed by Foster + Partners for EnCana based on in-depth workplace study with employees prior to design conception. The open floorplate design promotes communication and collaborate among teams, and provides a unique environment for the occupant.
- The column-free space provides future, long-term flexibility in office redevelopment
- Three Sky Gardens and a 'gardenette' every three floors promote employee interaction. A gardenette is landscaped meeting space that extends from the office tower floor and overhangs into the atrium column
- Over 85% of employees will have a window view
- Offices facing the atrium will have operable windows allowing occupants to experience a more natural air flow and temperature environment
CULTURAL REGENERATION
The Bow is inspired by its historic context
- The restoration and integration of existing heritage buildings is a key element in The Bow project. Many of these buildings were places of gathering, and this spirit will be preserved through the development of a social hub on The Bow south block
- The York Hotel, originally built in 1930 in an Edwardian style with Art Deco motifs, will become the cornerstone of a retail and cultural complex that defines the south block. In 2007, the building was dismantled brick by brick as the first step towards its preservation. Eventually, the west and south exterior walls will be renovated and restored and the 1913 Regis Hotel is expected to become a boutique hotel
